New Mexico Assessment Task Force
The New Mexico Assessment Task Force held its first meeting in March 2006 and received its charge to formulate recommendations on the assessment of the five General Education Core Competencies that had been developed through the work of the Articulation Task Force. The task force consists of membership from two- and four-year institutions from across the state, including tribal colleges.
A draft proposal on the assessment of the General Education Core Competencies will be forwarded to HED in the fall of 2007 for presentation at the 2008 legislative session. As part of the proposal a position paper on assessment will also be included. The position paper outlines the task force's philosophy on student learning outcomes assessment.
The major goal that the Assessment Task force seeks to fulfill is to be the voice of student learning outcomes assessment in the state of New Mexico by
- Advocating for enhanced learning for our students
- Practicing good assessment techniques
- Promoting excellence in assessment
- Acting as a positive influence on the government and the agencies that set the standards for education in the state.
